Artist Talk with Nika Neelova
Mönchsberg

Nika Neelova (*1987 in Moscow, lives and works in London) explores the relationship between humans, objects, and time. Her large-scale installations are composed of found objects and materials – such as glass, pipe residues, or mineral structures – which she transforms through complex processes into new, evocative forms. Her works evoke traces of past civilizations or imagined future landscapes – situated somewhere between geology, mythology, and speculative fiction.
Together with curator Christina Penetsdorfer, she discusses the concept behind Cascade, the idea of non-linear perceptions of time, cycles of loss and return – and the dramaturgy of the exhibition’s three chapters: Fundamente (Foundations), Erscheinung (Appearance), and Prophezeiung (Prophecy).
The conversation offers direct insights into artistic thinking, material exploration, and curatorial decision-making – taking place within the exhibition space, surrounded by the works themselves.
