Conceived as an orchestrated collision between Nina Beier’s sculptures and Bob Kil’s performances, Boyfriend features wearable objects that dictate and obstruct the movement of five performers who ascend and descend the staircase in the museum. The title echoes the fashion term “boyfriend jeans,” a style that aims to provide the oversized and relaxed fit of an outfit borrowed from one’s boyfriend.
