The title is a challenge, a presumption and an excessive demand. The things of the world are not comprehensible. In this performance, premiered at steirischer herbst 2016 and now adapted for the exhibition Begin Suddenly in Splendour. ROSE ENGLISH: Performance, Presence, Spectacle, Philipp Gehmacher questions the status of things, of objects and documents, while considering the artistic works and reflections of Rose English as “precious things” that she shares with us.
